Thinking of joining us?
You should be aged 7 years or older (we will consider younger members if they show exceptional ability) and have achieved at least ASA stage 7.
To get started please fill in a form and return it to Liz Williams, the head coach. Then you will be invited to come along to a series of 3 trial sessions (total cost £5). These allow you to get used to the routine of swim training weekly and gives us a chance to get to know you and what your abilities are. We will also work with you to fine tune any areas you may need help with at this stage.
If you achieve the required standard at the end of these sessions you will be invited to join the club. If you haven’t quite reached the standard required, we will advise how to improved on the areas required and recommend when to try again.
Volunteer (adult) members
The club always needs additional help from adult volunteers.
Most adult members are parents of swimmers although anyone can volunteer.
Roles range from administrative and clerical to working on poolside with the swimmers. Many roles require only occasional input e.g. timekeepers are required to support the team at galas and other swim meets.
Go here for more details of the roles of adult volunteers
If you are interested in helping out please contact either the desk clerk or one of the coaches at any of our swimming sessions or contact us here.
All members are required to complete club membership forms and Swim Wales membership forms.
In addition you (member and a swimmer’s parent) will be required to sign the relevant parts of our code of conduct.
Swimmers also need to complete a swimmers contract to indicate their membership level.
All of these forms are available here or from our desk clerks to whom you will also need to pay your annual membership fees and, for swimmers, a monthly subscription.
Criminal Records Bureau checks
Adult members will need to complete a CRB check. This is an absolute necessity as we are dealing with young children in a particularly vulnerable situation (for both the children and adults).
Please remember that the CRB check and all external training costs the club quite a lot of money – please only volunteer if you are serious about following it up and helping the club.
