Isle of Anglesey Swimming Club

We are a small, friendly development club providing training for competitive swimmers between the ages of 7 and 18 and of varying ability.

We meet at two different locations on the island – Llangefni and Holyhead – on both weekdays and at weekends.

We are always delighted to welcome new members. Please contact us if you are interested in joining us or would like to try our ‘taster’ sessions.

The Isle of Anglesey Swimming Club was established in 1975. We currently have approximately 70 members between the ages of 7 to 18years.

The club is affiliated to Swim Wales / Nofio Cymru.

The club is run by a management committee of volunteers. The committee meets at monthly intervals and an Annual General Meeting is held yearly, usually in February, to elect officers and to receive annual reports of officers of the Club.

Clwb Nofio Ynys Môn.

 Rydym yn glwb bychan, cyfeillgar;  un  sy’n gallu cynnig hyfforddiant ar gyfer nofwyr cystadleuol o bobl ifanc rhwng 7 a 18 oed  a gallu amrywiol.

Rydym yn cyfarfod mewn dwy canolfan  ar yr Ynys – yn Llangefni a Chaergybi –  hynny yn ystod dyddiau’r wythnos ac ar benwythnosau.

Rydym wrth ein boddau yn croesawu aelodau newydd. Cofiwch gysylltu â ni os oes ganddoch chi awydd ymuno …… neu os buasech chi’n hoffi dod atom ni i un o’r sesiynau ‘blasu’.

Mae Clwb Nofio Ynys Mon bellach yn bod, ers 1975. Mae ganddon ni tua 70 o aelodau  bobl ifanc rhwng 7 a 18 oed.

Mae’r Clwb yn dal cysylltiad agos â chyfundrefn  Swim Wales / Nofio Cymru.

Mae’r Clwb yn cael ei redeg gan bwyllgor rheoli o wirfoddolwyr a’r pwyllgor yma yn cyfarfod yn fisol. Bydd Cyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol yn cael ei gynnal ym mis Chwefror fel arfer. Bryd hynny y dewisir swyddogion am y flwyddyn,  derbyn adroddiadau blynyddol gan  swyddogion y Clwb, ac ati.

Polite Notice

The club is becoming concerned about swimmers not turning up for usual sessions, then attending others instead, especially Thursday evening which is an “invitation only” session due to shortage of lane space. This makes it hard to plan for with respect to coaches etc. If you could try and  stick to your usual sessions and only change nights with prior approval from Liz Williams then this will help things run a lot more smoothly. Here are some  guidelines that should help you and those you swim with

 
Arrive on time. You should  aim to get to the pool 10 minutes before your session starts , you should be on poolside 5 minutes before the session starts.
Read the board  so you know what the warm up is.
Know your speed  Be aware of how fast/slow you are compared to others in your lane . For each set ,organize yourselves in speed order remember the fastest at Front Crawl  may not be the fastest at other strokes.
Pace yourself . Set  off at the start  of the set at a speed you can keep up for the whole set. Remember if you drop out of the set the swimmers behind you lose out on their rest time.
If in an emergency you have to stop, you should move out of the way of   the swimmers behind you. DO NOT STOP in the middle . Get out of the water as soon as possible
Give yourself room unless the coach sets a different spacing, set off 5 sec after the swimmer in front , so you can swim at your own pace and not interfere with others turning.
Be patient if you catch up the person in front, do not hassle them but do change over during the interval on short sets
Tap the person in front on the foot  once just before the end of the length and change over at the turn
SWIM WITH AN EMPTY BLADDER. Go to the loo before you start the session .You should not need to go to the loo during the session  (no matter how hard the set is) go between sets  and tell your coach.
Swim  fully hydrated.  Only use your water bottle at rest periods between sets.
Move over  when you finish your swim, move out of the way  of swimmers behind you so they to can enjoy a full final length-
you may have to tread water to be out of their way.
